You walk through the mall on a Saturday afternoon and someone stops you near the food court
“Would you like a sample of Bourbon Chicken”?
Yes, of course I would…then I proceed to walk by that same sample man again 2 or 3 times till Ive had enough that there is no need for me to even purchase a meal..LOL
Well, I created my own by looking around online and taking suggestions from differnt websites regarding how to make it, and I must admit it taste darn near just like the one they give you at the mall. I promise. Give it a try…there is a 100% money back guarantee on this. Ok..well maybe not, but I do promise that you’ll like it.
1 1/2 – 2 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breast
2 tblsp of chopped garlic
1/2 tsp ginger
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup apple juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tblsp apple cider vinegar
2 tblsp ketchup
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp liquid smoke (if you have it)
Cut chicken into large chunks, then cook in large skillet on medium heat till white on the outside but still pink on the inside. Remove chicken from the pan. In a bowl, mix all of the remaining ingredients with a wisk and then pour it into the pan. Heat until boiling, then return chicken to the boiling liquid. Turn heat down to simmer and allow to cook for an additional 20 minutes.
I served this over white rice. The kids loved the sauce so I ended up having to double the sauce recipe so that they could pour extra all over their food.
Yummy! I love bourbon chicken! I can’t wait to try this!
Mmmmm. Looks so good. I can not wait for a day off to make this for my family. Thanks. Great job!!!!
